Karen Ann Kalmakis PhD, MPH, FNP, FAANP
Dr. Kalmakis is an Associate Professor of nursing and has focused her research on the health consequences of victimization and childhood adversity. Currently, she is investigating the neurobiological stress response to childhood adversity and nurse practitioner screening for adverse childhood experiences. Dr. Kalmakis, a certified family nurse practitioner, brings her years of clinical experiences in acute care, community health, women's health, corrections and college health to her teaching role in the DNP program. A former Center for Research on Families Scholar, and Chancellor's Fellow, Dr. Kalmakis proudly serves as the Massachusetts State Representative to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
