Joan Marlene Stanley PhD, RN, NP, FAAN, FAANP
Dr. Stanley is Chief Academic Officer at the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. She has provided leadership for the development of many major position statements and policy reports that have shaped NP education and practice. For over 40 years, she has provided leadership for national and state policy initiatives, including the development and implementation of the LACE Consensus Model, which addresses important issues related to NP licensure, accreditation, certification, and education and the development and implementation of the transition of all advanced nursing practice to the Doctor of Nursing Practice level. Dr. Stanley held a faculty position from 1977-1982, in the Adult Primary Care NP Program at the University of Maryland and practiced as an Adult NP from 1973 to 2018 at the University of Maryland Medical System. Her book, Advanced Practice Nursing: Emphasizing Common Roles (2011) is in its 3rd edition.
