Paula Mccauley DNP APRN ACNP-BC FAANP
Dr. Paula McCauley DNP APRN ACNP-BC FAANP has 40 years of experience in acute and critical care with 22 years as an ACNP. Her current practice is in Cardiology at The University of Connecticut Health Center. She has served at the UConn School of Nursing as Associate Professor and Track Director for the AG-ACNP program since 2006, as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs from 2012-2016 and in a joint appointment with the SON and the critical care service as an APRN from 2003-2012. Her areas of interest include acute and critical care and advance practice education. An active member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses since 1983, she served as a national Director from 2014-2017, Treasurer for 2015-2016, member of the Nomination Committee from 2014-2016 and member of the NTI API program committee in 2014. She is chair of the task force for revisions to the Scope and Standards of Practice for Acute Care Nurse Practitioners 2021. She is a member of the Connecticut Nurses Association and served on their Leadership Committee. She is past President of the Mu Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and has served as Treasurer and Leadership Succession chair. She has co-chaired the Connecticut League of Nursing's statewide Dean's and Directors committee and participated on the advisory committed for the Connecticut Nursing Coalition where she served as co-chair of it's Data Committee. Scholarship participation in programs, presentations and publications include clinical practice in acute and critical care, advance practice nursing and interprofessional education. She is co-author of two books and currently co-editing a text for AG-ACNP practice that will be published in 2021. She is a preceptor, mentor and advisor for graduate nursing students, medical students, residents and fellows at the university healthcenter.
