Tracy A Klein PhD, ARNP, FAAN, FAANP
Dr. Klein is an Associate Professor in the family nurse practitioner program at Washington State University where her expertise includes pharmacology, scope of practice/roles for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), health policy and health regulation. Her research areas include the impact of APRN practice and prescribing on assessment and management of concussion, ADHD, and academic relationships with the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Klein’s work has been published in the Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Workplace Health and Safety, Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioner, and Journal of Nursing Administration. She has over 15 years experience as an operations and policy analyst focusing on APRN regulation and policy in the US. Dr. Klein has provided consultation to the Oregon State Board of Nursing, NCSBN APRN Committee, College of Registered Nurses in British Columbia, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Dr. Klein represented Region 10 on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Nurse Practitioners for three terms, where she served as the Board liasion to the Research Committee. She also chaired the AANP NP Education Committee for one year. She is currently the AANP representative on the American Society of Addiction Medicine's Benzodiazepine Titration Committee, and also serves on the Oregon Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Advisory Committee. Dr. Klein was the AANP NP Advocate of the Year for Oregon in 2007, and was inducted as an AANP Fellow that same year. She became a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2013. In addition to her policy and teaching practice, she maintains clinical practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Vancouver, WA in both primary and urgent care.
