COL (R) Edward E. Yackel is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 28 years of clinical, operational experience, and leadership. As former Director of the Army Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Assurance Programs and the Family Nurse Practitioner Consultant to the Army Surgeon General and Army Nurse Corps Commanding General, he spearheaded system-wide changes, opening practice opportunities previously closed to Army Nurse Practitioners. An accomplished clinician, Dr. Yackel is the recipient of the Army’s 9A (expert) designator, a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit, and has received 21 awards and decorations for his service to the nation.
