Gene Harkless DNSc, APRN, FNP-BC, CNL, FAANP
After graduating from Duke, Dr. Gene Harkless worked with the Indian Health Service and as a public health nurse in northern Canada. Completing her FNP at Vanderbilt, she then worked in community health and pediatric hematology-oncology.
Joining the University of New Hampshire in 1985, she is an associate professor and practicing family nurse practitioner having earned her Doctor of Nursing Science degree at Boston University in 1991.
Her scholarship focuses on evidence-based practice, self-efficacy, and eldercare. She received two Fulbright Senior Scholar awards, continues as a visiting professor in Norway, and is president-elect of the New Hampshire Nurse Practitioner Association.
