Mary Lee Barron PhD, RN, FNP-BC(R), FAANP
Dr. Mary Lee Barron is a retired Associate Professor from the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville School of Nursing, where she taught in graduate programs and undergraduate research courses. She also owns and directs Marquette Fertility Education LLC. Dr. Barron has spent much of her 40+ year nursing career in OB-GYN in a variety of nursing roles. Research interests include Natural Family Planning effectiveness and techniques as well as Fertility Knowledge and Literacy. She has published 25 peer reviewed articles and long authored the March of Dimes module on Antepartum Care and Laboratory Examination & AWHONN's Perinatal Nursing Antepartum Care. Dr. Barron has presented widely on topics related to fertility health, breastfeeding health benefits, preterm birth, prenatal care and pregnancy. Additionally, she has co-authored Guidelines for Nurse Practitioners in Obstetric Settings (now in the 3rd edition) which was an AJN Book of the Year (2nd edition) in 2017. Currently, she is serving as the inaugural president of the Marquette Method Professionals Association.
