Joanne M Pohl PhD, ANP, FAAN, FAANP
Dr. Pohl is Professor, Emerita at The University of Michigan School Of Nursing. She has more than 40 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner working primarily in nurse managed health centers (NMHCs) with underserved populations. Over those years she has served in faculty positions primarily in Michigan. At the University of Michigan she directed the Adult Nurse Practitioner Program and served as Associate Dean for Community Partnerships for 8 years. She is a past President of NONPF. She has published extensively on the outcomes of care and cost of care in NMHCs. She served on an IOM Committee on Geographic Adjustment Factors for Medicare. Although retired, she remains active having served on the Washtenaw County Board of Health in Michigan, and Past President, Board member of Haiti Nursing Foundation which supports the first BSN and MSN nursing programs in Haiti. She continues to track NP Primary Care graduation rates with the numbers of physician resident matches in primary care.
