Karen Koozer Olson PhD, RN, FNP-C, FAANP
Dr. Olson received a MSN from Pace University/New York Medical College in 1979 where she also completed a Post Master's Family Nurse Practitioner Program. In 1987 she received a PhD in Community Systems Planning and Development with a minor in Community Health Nursing from The Pennsylvania State University. She is certified as a family nurse practitioner by both ANCC and the AANP Certification Program. Dr. Olson has over 25 years teaching experience. She was a Professor of Nursing at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi from 1996-2007. December 1, 2007 she joined the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center, CON in Memphis, TN as Professor of Nursing and FNP Option Coordinator for the DNP program. Dr. Olson has served on both United Way Agency and private corporate boards. She instigated the primary care nurse practitioner role at Hytrol Conveyor Company in Jonesboro, AR, as part of a dual teaching/practice role with Arkansas State University. Dr. Olson has done consulting for the Arkansas State Legislature on access to health care and served as a DHHS grant reviewer. Her current scholarship accomplishments include guest editor for Holistic Nursing Practice, numerous textbook chapters, journal articles, and national presentations.
