Van Roper, PhD, MS, RN, FNP-C Associate Clinical Professor My expertise is in rural health and telehealth. I have over 25 years experience in rural healthcare. I started the first federally funded rural homeless clinic. As clinical director of the Primary Care AHEC TeleECHO Clinic, the first NP run and primary care clinic at the UNM ECHO Institute, I have innovated the use of the ECHO model in nursing curriculum expanded to include interprofessional healthcare students, faculty and clinicians from across the nation. Recent awards have included the Quality Matters Award, Fellow of the UNM Medical Leadership Academy, Teaching Fellow of the UNM Center for Teaching Excellence, and a GMEA Teaching Excellence Award for an IPE rotation: ECHO Complex Disease Management.
