Dr. Sue Johnston practices at the VA Medical Center in Temple, Texas and received her Master's from UT in Austin and her DNP from the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa. She has been active locally and nationally in workgroups within the VA, creates competencies for preparation of VA nurses in the care of diabetes and was part of a facility workgroup developing an inpatient team for improved management of diabetes. She was appointed to the Medical Professional Standards Board and the Clinical Executive Council to represent the APRNs at her facility and surrounding area. She has been Central Region Nursing Co-Leader of the Texas Team Coalition, a RWJF Coalition, and is Adjunct Faculty with Kaplan University's online RN to BSN, MSN-FNP, and DNP programs and University of Mary Hardin-Baylor MSN-FNP program. She is about to participate in herĀ 18th medical mission to Honduras providing primary care in mountain villages and precepting NP and DNP students.
