Diane O Tyler PhD, RN, FNP-BC, FNP-C, FAAN, FAANP
Dr. Diane Tyler, PhD, RN, FNP-C, FNP-BC, FAAN, FAANP, retired as CEO of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board in 2024 after being with the organization for 14 years. She previously was with The University of Texas at Austin for 30 years where she held the positions of Professor of Clinical Nursing, Director of the Nurse Practitioner Programs, Director of the Children's Wellness Center, and Animal Resource Center NP. She worked as an NP in community clinics, retail health, occupational health, and school-based clinics. Recent professional activities include advancing national certification/accreditation standards, NP specialty role development, along with examining international advanced practice nursing roles. She serves on committees with AANP, the Institute of Credentialing Excellence, and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Dr. Tyler is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She received her BSN from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and her MSN and PhD from UT Austin. Post-graduate FNP preparation was completed at UT Galveston Medical Branch as a component of a post-doctoral fellowship in primary care sponsored by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and the Southern Regional Education Board.
