Elizabeth Fuselier Ellis DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP, CRHCP- AgriSafe Nurse
Elizabeth Ellis is currently President, Founder and CEO of B.I.S. Community Clinic in Bedias Texas . This is a Rural Health clinic opened to better serve the community in which she lives. B. I. S. Community Clinic will serve Bedias, Iola, Singleton and surrounding communities. This is a solo independent RHC clinic. Dr. Ellis was one of the first Nurse Practitioners to complete the Certified Rural Health Care Professionals Course in 2019 with the National Association of Rural Health Clinics. Most recently she practiced as the first Director of Medical Operations Advanced Practice Providers with Memorial Hermann Medical Group. She worked to expand the Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant workforce through innovative practice models for the organization in Greater Houston and surrounding areas in over 80 clinics. Her administration focus was on retention, development and education of the Advanced Practice Provider team.
She has over 18 years of clinical nursing practice in rural health, primary care, occupational health and urgent care. Dr. Ellis has extensive experience and leadership in developing and implementing Advanced Practice Provider models for complex healthcare systems. She developed the first model that positioned a nurse practitioner Chief at the same level as a hospital medical director. She currently serves as adjunct faculty in the Acute and Continuing Care Department for UTHealth-School of Nursing and Texas A&M College of Nursing.
As an active volunteer in the nursing community, she has been honored for her contributions and she continues to serve in multiple leadership positions. She is an active member of several national organizations including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, and the Texas State Nurse Practitioner Association. Dr. Ellis is currently serving on The Board of Texas Association of Rural Health Clinics, and serves on The National Association of Rural Health Clinics Public Policy Committee. She served on the Commission for Collegiate Nursing DNP Standards Committee as the first Doctor in Nursing Practice representative in 2006. She then became a CCNE site visitor, then later served CCNE at the Executive Board level as a Practice Representative for two terms 2008-2010,and 2016-2017 . She also served on the Report Review Committee for the term 2016-2018.
She is published in the area of Nurse Practitioner practice models and billing reimbursement. She continues serves as a peer reviewer for several texts and an internet based journal. She lectures and continues to publish, consult and present in the area of Rural Health, DNP education, Nurse Practitioner utilization, systems leadership and billing.
