Dawn Lee Garzon PhD, CPNP-BC, PMHS, FAANP, FAAN
Dr. Garzon Maaks is a Associate Professor at the University of Portland, Oregon. She is a certified primary care pediatric nurse practitioner and a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist. In her 25 years as a pediatric nurse practitioner, she worked in primary care, urgent/convenient care, and pediatric behavioral health. She is a recognized leader in pediatric mental health and an advocate for integrating mental health in primary care settings. Her national effort in education and organizational leadership raise awareness with the aim of improving the health and wellness of vulnerable pediatric populations.
Dr. Garzon is a seasoned and sought-after speaker on pediatric topics with dozens of presentations and publications. She is the lead editor for the seventh edition of "Burns' Pediatric Primary Care" published by Elsevier in 2019. She is a seasoned educator and nurse leader with experience in undergraduate and graduate education, accreditation, and faculty development. In addition to being a FAANP, she was inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2019.
