Teresa M Judge-Ellis DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, FAANP
Dr. Judge-Ellis is a board certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) as well as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She was coordinator of the FNP program from 1999-2011. Dr. Judge-Ellis was a co-founder of the Iowa Nurse Practitioner Society (INPS) and served as INPS president. She is active in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and served on its board. She is an Associate Lecturer for Fitzgerald Health Education Associates, Inc. and developed and teaches the Certification Exam Review Course for PMHNPs. Dr. Judge-Ellis leads the University of Iowa College of Nursing Integrated Faculty practice. She practices 2 days per week providing integrated psychiatry and family practice with people with serious mental illness and complex medical problems. She led a rural, nurse-led integrated rural practice for over 13 years.
In 2005, Dr. Judge-Ellis was awarded the Friends of Iowa Civil Rights, Inc. Individual Award and the Catalyst Award from the University of Iowa Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity in recognition for her leadership efforts towards developing cultural competence and the elimination of health disparity. In 2013, Dr. Judge-Ellis was inducted as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She was awarded the American Psychiatric Nurses Association Excellence in Leadership-Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in 2018 and the American Association of Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence in 2019.
