Ramona Benkert PhD, ANP-BC, FAANP
Dr. Benkert is a practitioner, researcher and educator certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She has over 25 years of clinical experience and 10 years of research experience conducting quantitative and qualitative studies in primary care settings. Her research focuses on the complexities of the provider-patient interactions in clinical practice and the impact these interactions have on health outcomes, particularly among urban African American patients. She has been particularly interested in the Nurse Practitioner's cultural competence and the impact this has on the NP-patient relationship and quality outcomes. She has been the Principal Investigator or Co-PI on several research projects and three training grants. Dr. Benkert is currently the Co-Program Director for the Michigan Area Health Education Center (AHEC).
