Ruth M Kleinpell PhD, RN, FAAN, FAANP
Ruth Kleinpell PhD RN FAANP is currently the Associate Dean of Clinical Scholarship and Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She is certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and maintains active practice. She is known for her work on assessing outcomes of advanced practice nursing practice and she has published and presented nationally and internationally on the topic. She served on the board of the American Association of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) Fellows Group and as chair of the AANP Acute Care Forum Group. She has published on aspects of acute care nurse practitioner practice, using the AANP National Sample Survey database. She is a fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Critical Care Medicine, the American Academy of Nursing and the Institute of Medicine of Chicago. She is currently the past president of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and was the 3rd nurse to serve as president in the 46 year history of the organization. In recognition of her contributions to nurse practitioner practice, research, and scholarship and service to AANP, she received a 2022 AANP Fellows Legacy Award.
