Bob Smithing, MSN, ARNP, was a founder of and clinical director of FamilyCare of Kent, a nurse-managed center in Kent, Washington where he practiced as a family nurse practitioner. He is now clinically retired and teaching FNP students in a DNP program at Pacific Lutheran University. He is consulting related to NP business issues. He was the founding communication secretary of the AANP and is an AANP past-president. He was the founder of the first national NP website, NP Central. He is the executive director of the Washington State NP group, ARNPs United of Washington State. For 20 years, with his partner Maddy Wiley, he has been the editor of the Washington NP newsletter, ARNP Care.
