Phyllis Arn Zimmer MN, FNP, FAAN, FAANP
Phyllis Zimmer teaches in the University of Washington DNP program and was an early pioneer of the NP role. She chaired the NONPF development of national guidelines for NP education and was the first recipient of NONPF's Outstanding Nurse Practitioner Educator Award. She was a USPHS Primary Care Policy Fellow and serves on multiple national and international boards, speaks widely, is a past president of NONPF and the ACNP and is a FAAN. She is the President of the Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation (NPHF), spoke at a TED talk in Brussels, presented at the United Nations Women Leaders Forum, and has provided NP education consultation in Canada, The Netherlands, and Japan. She received the Loretta Ford Lifetime Achievement Award from the Colorado NP Symposium. In addition to teaching and working with the NPHF, she currently serves as President of America's Nurses, a public benefit corporation whose mission is to support advanced practice nurses in owning or having equity in their own practices.
