Marlene Cataylo Chance PhD, EJD, MSN, FNP-BC, FAANP
Dr. Marlene Chance is a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner at Primary Care Physicians of Hollywood, Florida. She pioneered the NP role in her "physician only" group practice in 1993, and successfully laid the foundation for NP-physician collaboration, health promotion, and preventive care, which paved the way for subsequent NPs in her practice, and in the community. She is the co-founder of the South Florida Council of Advanced Practice Nurses in Broward County, a successful organization which has continued to grow since 1994.
Dr. Chance received the prestigious international "Julita V. Sotejo Medallion of Honor" Award from the University of the Philippines Nursing Alumni Association International, Inc., for her outstanding contribution to the nursing profession, and for rendered service to community, country, and humanity. She holds several other awards that include the Florida ARNP of the Year Award, Florida Nurses Association Great 100 Nurses Award, Award of Outstanding Leadership and Education from the Philippine Nurses Association of South Florida, and many other professional and community awards of distinction, excellence in education, and outstanding service.
She lectures on medical malpractice for Advanced Practice Nurses and nurse practitioner-physician collaboration, and develops, plans and organizes continuing education seminars for nurse practitioners. She is an advocate of collaborative health care delivery, and actively promotes NPs as partners in health care.
