Susan E.D. Doughty is a retired Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. She has served as Adjunct Clinical Faculty in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program, Simmons University until 2022. As a national expert on women's health, Susan established the New England WomenCenter, Portland, Maine (a model for subsequent interdisciplanary centers in Maine) in 1997 until 2016, and has presented and published extensively on the subject. She was instrumental in Maine nurse practitioners achieving full practice authority in 1995, and third-party reimbursement in 1999. Ms. Doughty was awarded Outstanding Nurse Practitioner for Maine from the Maine Nurse Practitioner Association (2012) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (2013), and received the 2024 AANP Advocate State Award for Excellence for the state of Maine.
