Debra A Danforth DNP, APRN, FAANP
Debra A. Allan Danforth, DNP, APRN, FAANP is the Director of Clinical Learning Center, Director of Preceptorship and Professor at Florida State University, College of Medicine. Debra was the first Nurse Practitioner to receive full Professor from the College of Medicine. She is an Adult Nurse Practitioner, adjunct Associate Professor at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), College of Pharmacy, and courtesy faculty at Florida State University, College of Nursing. Dr. Danforth is currently the President/CEO of the American Nurse Practitioners Foundation (ANPF), President of the Florida Geriatric Society, International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) program and scholarship committee member, and Florida Nurse Practitioner Network nominating and conference committee member. Dr. Danforth started her nursing career over 30 years ago at Indiana University in nursing. She received her Bachelor and Master degree from the University of South Florida. Her master's degree was in nursing education and as an adult nurse practitioner. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Texas Tech University in the Executive Leadership program. She has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally on topics including OSCEs (objective structured clinical examinations), program evaluation of OSCEs, interprofessional education (nursing, medicine, social work, etc) utilizing standardized patients and simulators, Telehealth, TeamSTEPP, and how to use the panoptic ophthalmoscope and macroview otoscope. Her research is investigating a natural compound called D-chiro-inositol effectiveness in lowering blood sugar and lipids in diabetics and pre-diabetics. She has published a chapter on Interprofessional Team Care in Ham’s Primary Care Geriatrics, 6th edition, and is a moderator for Practicing Clinician Exchange for NPs and PAs. Dr. Danforth was honored with the Distinguished Alumni for 2019-2020 at Texas Tech University and the Guardian of the Mission for 2020 at Florida State University, College of Medicine.
