Jennifer Marie Clifton DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CCHP-A, CCHP-CP, FAANP
Jennifer Clifton, DNP, FNP-BC, CCHP-CP, CCHP-A, FAANP, is a Family Nurse Practitioner and faculty member at the University of Utah College of Nursing (CON) since 2005. With over 35 years of nursing experience, she integrates clinical practice, academic teaching, and administrative leadership.
Dr. Clifton began her career after earning her BSN from Indiana University in 1989. She gained broad RN experience in medical-surgical, cardiac and intensive care, and home health. She earned her MSN/FNP from Brigham Young University in 1998 and her DNP from the University of Utah in 2010.
Since 2005, she has provided primary care to justice-involved youth through Juvenile Justice and Youth Services (JJYS) and Summit County Health Department clinics. She has taught graduate nursing students online since 2006 and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Practice and Community Collaboration.
Dr. Clifton is certified as a Correctional Health Care Professional (CCHP), Clinical Provider (CCHP-CP), and Advanced (CCHP-A), highlighting her clinical and administrative expertise in correctional healthcare.
A national leader in juvenile correctional health, she serves on the NCCHC Juvenile Health Committee and Board of Directors as liaison to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She is also active in the Utah Nurse Practitioners Legislative Committee and the Snowbird Conference Planning Committee.
Her work has earned numerous honors, including the 2018 AACN Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Award, the 2019 ANCC Certified Nurse Award, and her 2020 induction as a Fellow of the AANP.
