Dr. Sandra Wiggins Petersen is an Associate Professor, University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Petersen is recognized as an advanced practice leader, a cutting edge researcher, a dedicated educator, author, and experienced clinician. At the state and national level in assisted living and hospice, she helped formulate legislation while expanding roles for APN's. She crafted a successful model of dementia care in assisted living based on neuroplasticity and biofeedback rather than utilization of psychoactive medications. She is now a key FNP faculty member/researcher at UT Tyler where she serves as Interim DNP Program Director.
