Andrea Brassard PhD, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN
Dr. Brassard recently retired as an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing where she directed the graduate health policy course. She retired as Senior Strategic Policy Advisor at the Center to Champion Nursing in America at AARP where she worked on the Campaign For Action to implement the recommendations of The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. She received the AANP 2014 State Award for Excellence for DC Advocate. She was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing in October 2017. She works pay for visit for Compassus Hospice in northern New Jersey making face-to-face visits to long term hospice patients and also makes palliative care nursing visits. She represents the New Jersey State Nurses Association on the APN Strategy group, working with Tay Kopanos and other NP leaders to pass legislation to remove the requirement for physician contracts with NP prescribers.
