Brian K Goodroad DNP, APRN, CNP, AAHIVS, AACRN, FAANP, FAAN
Dr. Brian K. Goodroad is a Clinical Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota, and an NP in the HIV Clinic at Hennepin County Medical Center. He has worked in health policy for over 30 years ensuring quality care for people with HIV, and for full-practice authority and signature recognition for NPs. Dr. Goodroad helped form and lead NP professional organizations and his efforts in local and regional HIV education have resulted in improved care provision by NPs and RNs. He was formative in founding the Land of the Lakes (Minnesota) Chapter of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) and served in multiple leadership roles in the Minnesota and San Francisco local ANAC chapters. He served on the board of national ANAC in 1996-1998. He received the AANP State Award for Excellence in 2017 and has twice served as the AANP Minnesota State Representative. He is a past-President of Minnesota Nurse Practitioners (MNNP) and served in other leadership roles. Currently, he is the President of the Minnesota APRN Coalition working to remove barriers to Minnesotan’s access to quality APRN care. Dr. Goodroad is board certified as a family and adult nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. He is also a board certified HIV specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine and is board certified as an Advanced AIDS Certified Registered Nurse (AACRN) through the HIV/AIDS Nursing Certification Board. He is a Luther Christman Fellow in the American Association for Men in Nursing, a Virginia Henderson Fellow in Sigma Theta Tau International, and was elected as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2018.
