Surani Hayre-Kwan DNP, MBA, FNP-BC, FACHE, FAANP
Surani Hayre-Kwan serves as the Director for Professional Practice and Nursing Excellence for Sutter Health.Responsible for advancing professional practice throughout the system affiliates, she provides leadership in professional development, clinical education, and training for nursing and advanced practice clinicians.
Prior to that, she worked for 5 years as the Executive Director of Operations for Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation and 19 years in the hospital setting- as Director of Perioperative Services, Pharmacy and Environmental Services at Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa.
In addition, Surani works as a nurse practitioner at the Russian River Health Clinic- a federally-qualified health clinic in Guerneville, CA.The patient population includes indigent and medically challenged patients from surrounding towns in Sonoma County.She also works as an NP at Sutter Urgent Care in Santa Rosa, CA.
Surani is the former President and Health Practice Chair for the California Association for Nurse Practitioners (CANP), the only professional organization representing 20,000 Nurse Practitioners in the state of California. She has served in board positions for over 14 years.She has an 18 year history with CANP.In the Sonoma County region she is serving a third term as President and has previously served as Public Relations chair and CEU coordinator.
On the state level, she has served as President for 2 terms, President-elect, Educational Conference Chairperson and as a member of the Health Policy and Practice Committee.
Surani is pursuing a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA.She completed her nursing education at Santa Rosa Junior College with an Associate Degree in Nursing and a Master’s of Science in Nursing and a Family Nurse Practitioner certificate at Sonoma State University (SSU).She also has an MBA from SSU.She is a nationally certified NP in Family Practice.
Surani has been recognized as a Fellow in the American Association for Nurse Practitioners (2018) and also in the American College of Health Care Executives (2018).
Ms. Kwan serves on a number of community-based boards focused on community health and wellness including the Northern California Center for Well-being and the Pediatric Dental Initiative.
