Helina Somervell DNP, MSN, CRNP, FNP-BC, NE-BC, FAANP
She recently joined the NCI/NIH in 2021 after 28 years of a diverse nursing career at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Dr. Somervell has 24 years of experience as a NP in surgical oncology and endocrine surgery and has collaborated with several multidisciplinary health care teams to develop quality improvement initiatives such as length of stay and OR throughput. Prior to her departure from JHH, Dr. Somervell was involved in the development of the Johns Hopkins Adrenal Center of Excellence. Throughout her nursing career of 35 years, she remains committed to providing not only the best evidence based and patient-centered care to a diverse patient population with complex healthcare needs but also to the development of the NP role within specialty practice.Dr. Somervell has also been affiliated with the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing since 2017 as adjunct faculty and currently serves as a Advanced Practice- DNP Project Advisor.
Dr. Somervell represents the APRN Council on the Commission on Magnet Recognition at the ANCC, is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and was the 2018 AANP Maryland State Award recipient.
