Vera Barton-Maxwell PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, FAANP
Dr. Barton-Maxwell is associate professor and director of Georgetown University’s nationally ranked family nurse practitioner program and a practicing NP at Wheeling Health Right. A national leader in NP advancement and heart failure management, she has held multiple leadership roles within the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, including serving as president, with ongoing contributions shaping NP cardiovascular practice. Dr. Barton-Maxwell is a prolific author, peer reviewer and presenter dedicated to advancing NP education and clinical excellence. Her scholarship and practice innovations have strengthened NP education, improved patient outcomes and expanded health equity, reaching thousands of providers and patients nationwide. Dr. Barton-Maxwell was recently honored with the Sigma Theta Tau Excellence in Nursing Education Award.
