Maria T Colandrea DNP, NP-C, CORLN, FAANP
Dr. Maria Colandrea is nurse practitioner at the Durham Veterans Affairs Healthcare System practicing in otolaryngology. She received her Bachelor of Science degree at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She received her Master of Science degree and Doctorate in Nursing Practice at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Dr. Colandrea serves as Chair of the National APRN Council through the Veterans Affairs, Office of Nursing Service, Washington, DC which represents four roles of APRN practice. She is a nationally certified otorhinolaryngology head and neck nurse who lectures nationally as well as internationally and is well published. She is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP) and Ad Eudem Fellow for the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FFNMRCSI). Dr. Colandrea is a Clinical Consulting Associate for the Duke School of Nursing. Her leadership includes serving as Vice President for the Society of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Nursing (SOHN), President of the North Carolina SOHN Chapter and North Carolina State Representative for the AANP. She was awarded the Nurse Excellence Award at the Durham VA Medical Center, North Carolina Nurses Association practice nurse of the year and Great 100 Nurses of North Carolina. Dr. Colandrea’s passion includes mentoring NP students, caring for her veteran patients and advocating for the nurse practitioner profession.
