Elisabeth Volpert DNP, APRN,FNP-C, FAANP
Dr. Elisabeth Volpert is an Associate Professor at the University of Louisville School of Nursing. She was the first nurse practitioner to be hired in a physician-only outpatient care clinic. She has become the most productive and profitable provider and has effectively advocated for the hiring of several other nurse practitioners. Dr. Volpert is an expert in primary care and healthcare finance. She leads other nurse practitioners in developing profitable practices that deliver quality care and serves as a consultant to NPs establishing practices.
Dr. Volpert lectures in the University of Louisville DNP courses and has developed DNP healthcare finance courses. She is also the University of Louisville's DNP Capstone project director. Her work in nursing policy includes serving as an elected member of the Kentucky Association of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives Board and her national position as an advisor to the Relative-Value Scale Update Committee. This committee is responsible for developing relative value (RVUs) recommendations which are submitted to CMS for new, revised, and potentially mis-valued codes. Dr. Volpert also represents as the only nurse on the RUC’s Practice Expense Subcommittee Advisor. The Practice Expense Subcommittee addresses any practice expense policy issues that arise and assists the RUC in its review of practice expense inputs for new and revised codes and codes identified through the relativity assessment process or by CMS.
