Susan (susie) M Adams PhD, APRN, PMHNP, FAANP
Dr. Adams is a leader in the development of the psych-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) role and the development of one of the first psych-mental health nurse practitioner programs in the U.S. at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.
Dr. Adams is also one of the first PMHNPs. Using her experiences as an educator and clinician, she has participated in the education of over 500 PMHNPs and consulted in the development and growth of several PMHNP programs. She is currently director of the Psych-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program in the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Her research and clinical practice focuses on the health needs and recovery of women with co-occurring disorders postincarceration.
