Joy S Elwell DNP, FNP-BC, CNE, FAAN, FAANP
Dr. Elwell has worked to eliminate barriers to Nurse Practitioner (NP) practice and increase access to health care. She designed and directed a college primary care center, as well as a NP-run primary care practice. Her doctoral study at Rush University laid the foundation in New York to achieve full practice authority for NPs. She was recognized in 2007 as "NP of the Year" by The Nurse Practitioner Association New York State.
She was awarded AANP's State Award for Excellence for New York in 2003.
Dr. Elwell served as AANP's Region 2 Representative, representing New York, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico for 4 years.
Dr. Elwell isĀ Professor and Director of the DNP ProgramĀ at the University of Connecticut. Her areas of expertise are Health Policy and Leadership.
