Wakako M Eklund, DNP, APRN, NNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN is a neonatal nurse practitioner for Pediatrix Medical Group of Tennessee, covering eight Neonatal Intensive Care units in middle Tennessee. She created, conducted, and published the only national survey on high-flow neonatal respiratory therapy to include nurse practitioner respondents. Dr. Eklund is a respected and sought-after ambassador for advanced practice nursing and has mentored numerous new nurse practitioners in Japan. As a world-renowned advocate active in multiple international initiatives, she serves on the Leadership Team for the International Neonatal Consortium to improve neonatal drug development and on the Board of the International Council of Neonatal Nurses (COINN). In 2019, Dr. Eklund was awarded the COINN Neonatal Nursing Award.
