Tara L Walker DNP, RN, ACNP-BC, FAANP
Dr. Walker is an assistant clinical professor at Wayne State University. She promotes interprofessional collaboration to address Black maternal health disparities through a social media campaign that expanded from a state-level initiative to an international platform. Dr. Walker demonstrates expertise and makes outstanding contributions to diversity by increasing the number of minority NPs in clinical practice, leadership and academic roles. In response to the growing demand for DNP programs and faculty shortages, Dr. Walker developed a model to manage projects efficiently and prevent faculty burnout. She was awarded the 2022 NP Spotlight for co-authoring an urban health textbook, recognized by U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Stabenow for her dedication to Black maternal health, is a 2024 Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing Fellow and the recipient of the 2024 Nightingale award for Nursing Excellence in Community Nursing.
