Leanne Marie Nantais-Smith PhD, RN, NNP-BC, FAANP
Leanne M. Nantais-Smith, PhD, RN, NNP-BC, FAANP Clinical Associate Professor at Wayne State is an outstanding clinician, researcher, innovator in cutting-edge nurse practitioner education models, and pioneer in NP workforce expansion strategies in Michigan. Funded by four HRSA Advanced Nursing Education Workforce grants totaling six million dollars, her pioneering work in developing distance technology to increase access and investigation of novel NP clinical education models to accelerate program capacity and workforce entry has significantly impacted NP workforce shortfalls in Michigan. Another outstanding contribution is Dr. Nantais-Smith’s novel research on noninvasive diagnostic and recovery biomarkers of necrotizing enterocolitis, a devastating intestinal disease with a 40% mortality rate in preterm infants.
