Elizabeth Li Sharpe DNP, APRN, NNP-BC, VA-BC, FAANP, FAAN
Dr. Elizabeth Sharpe is a Clinical Professor at The Ohio State University and a nurse practitioner and vascular access specialist. Dr. Sharpe is a globally respected expert in the interprofessional area of neonatal and pediatric vascular access. She has contributed to establishing and elevating new standards of care, developed practice guidelines, and enacted policy changes that have ultimately led to increasing the safety and health of our nation’s most vulnerable population. She is the co-author of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses Guideline for Practice: Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters in Neonates, 3rd & 4th editions and numerous publications including two national surveys presenting original research on PICC practices. She is the first nurse practitioner and neonatal clinician invited to serve on the Infusion Nurses Society Standards of Practice Committee composed of experts from around the world. She was elected to and served two terms on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association for Vascular Access Foundation. In recognition of her accomplishments, Dr. Sharpe received the 2025 Suzanne LaVere Herbst Award and was named the first Dr. Janet Pettit Scholar by the Association for Vascular Access and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
