Lois Ann Wessel DNP, FNP-BC, FAANP
Dr. Wessel is an associate professor at Georgetown University, a clinician at Community Clinic Incorporated Health Services and a consultant to Migrant Clinicians Network and the Mid-Atlantic Center for Children’s Health and the Environment. Dr. Wessel champions health equity for vulnerable populations, transforms how health care teams address social determinants of health, expands access for historically marginalized communities and inspires future clinicians through teaching, research and advocacy. Her interdisciplinary approach shapes conversations on environmental health, immigrant care and nurse-led innovations, influencing education and practice. Recent honors include the Jesuit Network of Nursing Programs Exemplary Nursing Faculty Award (2025), a visiting professorship at the University of Galway (2025), the James Slevin Engaged Scholarship Award (2024) and JNP Reviewer of the Year (2020).
