Angela Patterson DNP, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, FAANP
Dr. Patterson is an advanced practice registered nurse, Vice President at CVS Health, and Chief Nurse Practitioner Officer of Retail Health.
In her current role, Angela is responsible for providing strategic clinical and professional practice leadership for the more than 3,500 Nurse Practitioners, Physician Associates, and Nurses who staff the MinuteClinic retail health clinics in 34 states and the District of Columbia as well as virtual care venues across 48 states. She also leads a variety of programs focused on Clinical Quality & Safety, Clinical Education & Training, Professional Practice Advancement, and the Patient & Colleague Experience. Angela also has broader enterprise responsibilities including senior-level membership on key governance committees including Enterprise Patient Safety, Enterprise Women’s Health Initiatives, Health Equity, Strategic Diversity Management Leadership Council, and Enterprise Nursing Council.
In 2019, under Angela’s guidance, MinuteClinic became the first retail health care organization to be awarded the Pathway to Excellence® designation by the ANCC for achieving a culture of excellence in nursing practice. Highly regarded as a National Nursing Leader, Angela was the recipient of the 2018 AANP Sharp Cutting-Edge Award for her exemplary work in nursing organizational leadership and inducted in 2019 as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Prior to joining MinuteClinic, Angela spent 20 years as a primary care provider and Clinical Director in an urban-based, family medical practice which she co-owned. She also served for 10 years as a principal lecturer and clinical instructor for the Family Nurse Practitioner program in the School for Health Studies at Simmons College in Boston, being awarded during her tenure recognition as the institution’s Teacher of the Year. Angela holds board member appointments with the Convenient Care Association, The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare, and NursesMC, an innovative charter high school for underprivileged students who wish to become nurses. She is also a member of the AARP Champion Nursing Coalition.
Angela received her BSN in 1985 and MSN with certification as a Nurse Practitioner in 1988 from Simmons College. She received her Executive DNP from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2016 and was awarded the institution’s Bette Ann Harris Distinguished Alumni Award in 2023.
