Janet G. Campbell DNP, RN, ANP-BC, ACNS, FAANP, FAAN
Dr. Campbell is a US Navy Veteran that has dedicated the past 26 years of her federal career to honor and serve Veterans. Prior to retirement from federal service, she maintained the role of National Program Manager and Nurse Executive for Nurse Practitioner workforce development training programs within the Office of Academic Affiliations in VA central office. Utilizing her robust NP and military/veteran healthcare expertise, in partnership with national academic institutions, she provides national oversight and strategic leadership for all VA Nurse Practitioner training programs both at the graduate and postgraduate levels. She is board certified NP in Adult Primary Care, currently holds a Clinical Associate Faculty appointment at Duke University School of Nursing and is a recipient of several awards and honors, most notably, the VA Secretary’s Award for Excellence and Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
As a national lead for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) NP Training Programs, she was integral in developing national VA standards for NP education and practice through the successful implementation and management of NP education programs in response to the national nursing workforce challenges and access to care issues. She developed collaborative relationships with national health professions education organizations, accreditation agencies and academic institutions to establish high NP training and practice standards. In addition, she provided input to establish the new Commission on Collegiate NursingEducation (CCNE) Procedures for Accreditation of Nurse Practitioner Fellowship/Residency Programs that were approved in 2021.
She has made significant contributions to the nursing profession distinct in her clinical practice, dedication to nursing education, published works, administrative acumen, and innovation in health care delivery models of care. These contributions have been disseminated at local and national levels aimed at advocating change toward achievement of superior outcomes in Veteran care.
