Dr. Williams is a tenured professor at the University of South Alabama College of Nursing’s Community Mental Health Department. Over the past 24 years, Dr. Williams has demonstrated international and national expertise in education and research related to non-suicidal self-injury, motivational interviewing (MI)-spirited communication, integrated behavioral health (BH) care, substance use disorder education and screening for high-risk behaviors. Dr. Williams secured and successfully led over $4.3 million in external grant funding for programs to prepare the next generation of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners and was among the first to receive faculty appreciation acknowledgement for being 10th out of 15 researchers to receive the highest grant funding during the year 2023.
