Dr. Carpenter is a pediatric nurse practitioner and serves as the senior vice president, chief nursing and patient operations officer for Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware. Dr. Carpenter is a recognized leader and innovator in advanced practice education that develops the next generation of advanced practice nurses. He is the founder of the country’s only pediatric primary care nurse practitioner fellowship and created competencies for the delivery of mental and behavioral health care in the pediatric medical home. He has emphasized deployment of primary care nurse practitioners to rural and urban areas to increase access for underserved populations. He is an award-winning speaker, published author and a recent recipient of a multimillion-dollar federal grant supporting his work.
